This is an initiative to open up K-12 teachers in Ghana to modern methods of teaching, especially with the application of technology in their classrooms. As a forum, it is also a means to rally up these teachers to meet with one another and to network with others beyond their region. Finally, the Ghana Teachers and Volunteers Forum is a place to find out more about online education and e-learning degree programs which could be taken without traveling outside Ghana. Membership is open to teachers and other educationists in Ghana and in overseas countries with the desire to help improve education and teaching in African countries and Ghana in particular.

The Green Schools in Africa Programme aims to establish a Green Economy at schools [educational institutions] that are under-resourced and under financial pressure. A considerable challenge for education in Africa is the question of how to contribute substantially to academic institutions’ financial ability to provide world class quality edu-training in the co-curricular teaching and learning environment. The sustainable utilization of resources, specifically renewable energy, is the main supporting element in • poverty reduction, • delivering quality education to under-resourced school communities, and • the support of related services and in general. The Green Schools in Africa Initiative [GSAI] is a practical solution, that aims to contribute towards economic and social development in Africa. [The word green is closely related to the Old English verb growan, “to grow”, and the colour green is the international symbol for quality, safety, a healthy environment and personal health. It is universally associated with regeneration, fertility and rebirth for its connections to nature]. Pillar 1: Financial Resources 1. The objective is to support schools with the sustainable management and utilization of critical resources such as a. Renewable energy - electricity b. Ground water c.Food supplements for needy students and orphans d. Basic health care by qualified and registered staff 2. The establishment of solar powered water wells and supplementary electricity provision points is the foundation of this sector of the Green Schools Initiative Pillar 2: A Green Environment 3. Vegetable gardens to supplement food programme at benefactor and beneficiary schools 4. Flower Gardens to supplement income at benefactor and beneficiary schools Pillar 3: A Safe Environment 5. The establishment of partnerships to promote personal safety and property security at schools Pillar 4: Quality Education 6. The establishment of co-curricular Quality Education Enrichment Programmes in support of Classroom Education in schools.
